Ten acres of stunning botanical gardens in the heart of the city, York Museum Gardens are a perfect picnic spot, place to run around or just somewhere to relax.

Established in the 1830s by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society, the gardens are famed for their fantastic collection of trees, shrubs and perennials.

They are set against the stunning backdrop of the medieval ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey.
