York is within easy travelling distance of two international airports – Leeds/Bradford, Manchester and Humberside.

Leeds Bradford Airport

The closest airport to York is Leeds Bradford – LBA. It is less than an hour away by car. However, there are no direct buses or trains to it and flights are mostly European.

You can get a train to Leeds using TransPennine Express, Northern Trains or CrossCountry. You can catch the Flyer bus from Leeds railway station, which takes around 35 minutes. The service operates approximately every hour between the hours of 6am and 10:30pm.

Manchester Airport

Manchester – MAN – is the largest regional airport that is close to York. It also has direct international flights serving countries including America.

A direct rail service – TransPennine Express train – operates around 20 hours a day and it takes around two hours.

By car, the airport is 1 hour 45 minutes, but can often be subject to congestion on the M62, making the train a more relaxing option.
